This album is fantastic. All the hype has been worth it. This is as they said in interviews their 'The Wall' The solo in Halo is amazing and the sheer riffage of the album is about as close to Perfection as you can get. Hey you! Buy now!!

I cannot emphasize how much YOU HAVE TO GET THIS album. The riffs are amazing, there are harmonized solos and even harmoized shred all over the place which is epic. To top it off this is without doubt robs finest moment as a vocalist as well with frequent 3 harmony vocals as well as his angry voice which we know and love as well. GET IT

yer its a sick album,iv had it for about a month now,and its still wicked to listen to and not getting boring or stale which is a good sign, the only 2 things that i have to complain about is its only 8 tracks, which i guess is fair enough as all the songs are all pretty damn long, and that im not to keen on A Farewell To Arms,it seems like a bit of an anti climax to a awsome album, but its starting to grow on me
POSTED: 03/27/2007 - 04:10 pm / quote |

shup u twat dribble, i didnt say they rapped, i said the lyrics were similar to that of rap, and as for robb flynn in an interview, i also heard from another interview with him that the song was about the band.

The Blackening has got to be, not only HANDS DOWN the best album of this year, but one of the best albums I've ever heard. I thought that Through The Ashes of Empires was the unstoppable. I didn't think that anybody could top it, but Machine Head back and kicked everybody's asses AGAIN with The Blackening.

The tour with Lamb of God and Trivium and Gojira was amazing as well. I think that Machine Head should have been main support over Trivium. They deserve that. Not to say that Trivium wasn't good, but Machine Head's performance blew them out of the water.

MACHINE-FUCKING-HEAD

I highly doubt they'll release Halo as a single, due to the fact that Robb's talking about stopping Christianity and it's poisoning our minds.

Still though, probably one of, if not the best, album i have ever heard. If you like metal at all, BUY THIS ALBUM! NOW!

Guys this album is AWESOME!!! This band did the impossible and surpassed ALL their past albums! It's absolutely mind-blowing. It's perfect in every way! It was worth the extra few days us Aussies had to wait!

But, sorry to have to do this, but to all you who say this is the album of the year, I'm sorry but I think that belongs to United Abominations. This album comes very close, but just not that close.

Also, there are parts on this album musically that are to me very reminiscient of past MH albums, like the riff in Halo could easily fit somewhere on The Burning Red and other songs that sound like something off Supercharger. All i'm saying is to those who threw out those 2 albums after just one listen just coz of a different vocal style on some songs, go back and give them another chance...you just might like them.

This is a heck of cathartic album, and I mean in a good way. Machine Head's new release is definitely unarguably one of the solid metal records of past a half decade. they have been improved alot in 4 years.
it's just a in-your-face, adrenaline-pumping, head-banging metal album. a new classic in 21st century!

I gotta admit...I'm actually seeing the funny side of that comment. Sure I reckon The Burning Red was a great album and I hate it when people rip on MH for rapping (coz 1. the songs were still awesome and 2. YOU try playing guitar and rapping at the same time) but yeah it made me laugh!

LOL hey I don't see a Machine Head tattoo on your arm buddy!

I'm just saying, this album is the best they've done since Burn My Eyes and since this record was such a huge success, they're gonna have to outdo it with their netx album - my only concern is if thats even possible, since this is the best metal album to be released in over a decade.

There's a bonus track, a cover of "Battery" by Metallica. It was on Kerrang's "Remastered" album, and is only on the Special Edition version of The Blackening.

If this isn't the best Metal Album ever, then it mustn't be classed as metal. Best 'thing' ever. Better than chocolate, sex, or even meeting god for a drink.

I got into Machine Head after hearing Imperium, and didn't listen to much of them. After they released this, I became totally obsessed, and I've got every album apart from "The More Things Change" now. If one album can make you want to buy four others, then you know it's something good.

This band is insane. The solo's are amazing. However, I can't listen to something that speaks so harshly of my faith no matter how badass the song actually is. For instance, in Halo:

This is a right to life,
not the Religious Right’s act
This is abortion’s knife,
aiming at the womb of
The Christian conspiracy
So open thine eyes and see, the

Halo, over our demise
Following a god so blind
Sallow, in their sickening
Swallow not, the shit they feed

This band is insane. The solo's are amazing. However, I can't listen to something that speaks so harshly of my faith no matter how badass the song actually is. For instance, in Halo:

This is a right to life,
not the Religious Right’s act
This is abortion’s knife,
aiming at the womb of
The Christian conspiracy
So open thine eyes and see, the

Halo, over our demise
Following a god so blind
Sallow, in their sickening
Swallow not, the shit they feed

Well then don't. We still will, and we're all happy.

High Christian figures rarely have a problem speaking so harshly of Heavy Metal.

Are you serious?

I can't believe religion is keeping you from listening to awesome music. Dude, if they sang on the album, "Kyle's a ****ing douchebag.", I'd be like, "Awesome! They said my name!" Haha.

But yeah, this album is freaking awesome. I've only had trouble liking two songs off of it, and those two are "Slanderous" and "Beautiful Mourning".

I scanned this to ahve a wee listen in VRIGIN MEGASTORES a few months back, since I'd heard so much about it. 7.1 seconds into the sample of 'Clenching The Fists' I was a Machine Head fan.

Pure amazing.

I would like to remove my statement. After doing some investigating as to what the intentions, or meaning behind Halo's lyrics. It's not actually against Christianity, it's is a song describing organized-religion and how it can cause one to be blind, by following words that you are told, whether they be truthful or not... As FinalDivinity descibed in his review.

The Blackening is an outstanding album.

Best album ever.
I know that sounds like a ridiculous thing to say. It isn't. What are the other candidates? Led Zep IV has a couple of boring tracks and doesn't have enough 'rock', Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (or any Sabbath album) has about 4 or 5 masterpieces and a couple of duff tracks, Master Of Puppets is amazing, but some songs sound so far beneath Battery and the title track, Apetite for Destruction isn't really all that amazing, Vulgar Display Of Power is amazing again but let down in places, and can't think of many more albums that people would say is the best ever. The Blackening has 10 minute songs that don't get boring, it has the heaviest riffs of any album, amazing solos in every song, catchy choruses, acoustic guitars, and the best breakdowns imaginable. Seen them live twice since this album came out, and it feels like something special! 11/10

Probably one of the most well written, and well produced albums I've heard in a while. The production quality is awesome. You can hear the guitars, bass and drums perfectly, unlike most metal bands (cough Metallica) who totally mix out the bass.

But yeah I've had this album since it came out, and I've been listening to it since then. It's one of the few albums I can listen to all the way through without getting bored or running into a filler song. It's so obvious they put everything into this album, and the only problem I have with that is, It's going to be really hard to top this album when it comes time for them to make a new one.

to add more emphasis to my previous point, you cannot be serious. The Blackening is just a mind bogglingly outstanding album, there´s one less than mediocre track (beautiful mourning, thankfully the shortest track on the album) but the rest are just colossal. Every single riff is just perfect and dont even get me started on how amazing the drumming is.

I would have to say I almost shit myself when I first herd this album. Honestly, I jizzed in my pants. There are more than a handful of killer riffs in every song, and for long songs, they don't seem to get boring at any point. What is even better than this album thought, is seeing Machine Head perform this shit live. Totally awesome dudes... totally awesome. If you dont own this album, then wtf are you waiting for? join the revolution bitches and buy this god-damn album
