Good article. I did notice that there werent any amp guides. Also good job recommending the micro cube. I started with that and it does what I need.

Im thinking of moving up to one of those $2000 dollar stacks though. Id like to hear what you have to say about choosing more advanced amps

This is good stuff. Though you shouldn't have to defend writing for the beginner. It is the beginner section. It would be interesting to know what benefits come from moving up each level in amps - $150 compared to $300, and $300 compared to $500, etc.

very informative, thankyou. I got a starter pack which came with a fender frontman 15G. it's annoying because it has some static, but after reading this i think i might shop around for something of better value

I've tried microcube, but as you said, I did not like its way-too-digital sound. I don't know but it somehow killed the shine of the guitar... So at last I've got a decent solid-state Kustom amp, and its fine.

The review is nice though, it was needed up here, so thx!
